A Coalition of Youth Support of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has warned its leadership and President Muhammadu Buhari not to support any former Governor for the National Chairmanship of the party.

The group dropped the warning ahead of the forthcoming convention of the party in view of the expression of interest in the position by former Governors.

Reports gathered that over six  Ex-Governors are among more than 11 contestants for the post.

Chairman of APC Youth Coalition, Adamu Dahiru Lanzai, said the emergence of a former Governor as APC National chair will not brood well for the party.

The group warned former Governors have proven to be too powerful without regards for sitting Governors in making critical decisions for the party.

He said many of them have the tendency to pursue self interest and instigate crisis in state chapters.

Recall after the crisis that engulfed Oshiomhole party leadership, a caretaker committee was constituted led by Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state who has so far recorded incredible successes in restoring the party to its lost glory.

Buni has put back the aggrieved party members and the new members into the party’s fold. These include both serving, and former governors, senators and members of the House of Representatives among other political bigwigs from the opposition.

As growing politicians and future leaders of the party, we believe giving the party to the former Governors may undermine all the success made under Gov. Buni led committee and consequently ignite another crisis that would destroy the party and give our main opposition the PDP a chance in the upcoming 2023 elections.

There are loyal party members with fresh energy that can competently move the party forward, we therefore advice our party to use its avenues in selecting the best hand that would lead the party to the victory in the next 100 years to come.
