Goods worth millions were on Friday destroyed by fire at a disposable cups/plates factory near head bridge, Onitsha, Anambra state.
The factory located opposite Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) office along Hero road went flamed up around 5:30 PM.
Tori4africa gathered that,the fire outbreak emanated from the factory’s warehouse where raw materials were kept and mutigated by joint efforts of Federal and State Fire services as well as the FRSC.
Police spokesperson, Ikenga Tochukwu confirmed the incident,saying that no life was lost in the incident.
About 5:30pm, there was a fire outbreak in a factory that produces disposal cups and plates along Hero road by Onitsha head bridge.
On receipt of the information, Police Operatives led by DPO Harbour Divisional Headquarters rushed to the scene, cordoned off the area to prevent looting by hoodlums who can take advantage of the situation.
Meanwhile the Fire Service was contacted and they responded promptly. There was no lost of life or injuries reported.
Preliminary investigations reveals that the fire outbreak started from the warehouse part of the factory where they keep raw materials for the production of the disposals products.
To this end, the Commissioner of Police, Monday Bala Kuryas has ordered discrete Investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident to unravel the cause of fire and ascertain the level of damage.”
