Ikeja Electric To Upgrade Facilities

Ikeja Electric (IE) is to upgrade to 132KV, lines from Ikeja West to Ota axis.

The electricity distribution firm yesterday announced the planned re-conductoring of 132KV lines embarked on by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), aimed at expanding the capacity to wheel more power.

The Chief Technical Officer, Jide Kumapayi, who disclosed this at the firm’s corporate headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja, said the upgrade by the TCN could not have come at a better time, considering that the capacity of most of the 132KV lines had become limited due to time and usage, culminating in inability to operate at full capacity.

He said the TCN, now in its second stage of a four-phased upgrade of 132KV lines, is set to begin work on the upgrade of 132 KV lines from Ikeja West to Ota.

The upgrade, which is set to start on October 11, will affect customers at Oregun, Anifowoshe, Ojodu, Magodo, Omole, Oba-Akran, Oke-Ira, Ogba, Omole Phase 1 and parts of Ikeja between 8am and 6pm daily, for eight weeks, Kumapayi said.
