Nobel Laureate and prominent South West leader Prof Wole Soyinka says herdmen crisis may lead to Civil War.
Professor Wole Soyinka, has sounded a warning over the herdsmen crisis across communities in Nigeria.
He said if not given proper attention , it could grow into a civil war.
After attending an interview with BBCpigin, he said that the herdsmen are acting with freedom, because they believe that they have their own in power, so they continue acting in impunity.
According to legit.ng he said that!!
My fear is that it could result into violence that would end up in—I hate to use the word—a civil war unless we take proper action. I’m glad that governors are already dialoguing with groups like Miyetti Allah (cattle breeders).
Professor Wole Soyinka added that, agreement in opinion needs to be reached that will be favourable to sides.
The country is fighting against an enemy that believes in doing anything that satisfies its ego.He said!!
They believe they have immunity or that nothing can happen to them. That is why, in my own state, you find a soldier taking the side of an enemy. They actually escort killers, rapists, raiders while flogging the victims.
However, he concluded that this would not be the case if the people are aware of the nature of the enemy, thereby are encouraged to mobilise on their own behalf and also cooperate with the security forces.
